Tested where it
matters — outside.

Before a Backper pack reaches your buyers, it's loaded up and taken out: ridgelines, downpours, overnight hauls. What survives becomes the catalog.

  • Field-tested under full load
  • IPX-rated weatherproofing
  • Abrasion-checked at every stress point

/ OUTDOOR BUYER FAQ

What gear-shop buyers ask before placing a trail-pack order

Need a custom expedition spec?

Email outdoor@backper.com

Which frame should I pick for my brand?

If your customer is doing day hikes to overnight trips, internal frame is the right default — it's lighter and contours to the back. Above 55L (multi-day, expedition) external frame is more comfortable under load. Frameless (sub-1kg) is right for trail runners and fast-and-light hikers only.

What's the difference between DWR and IPX5?

DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that beads off light rain; soaked fabric will eventually wet through. IPX5 is a seam-sealed pack tested against direct jets of water — true rainproof. Most outdoor brands ship DWR + a rain cover; IPX5 is a premium spec.

Can I add brand-specific hardware?

Yes — we manufacture custom buckles, sternum clips, hipbelt pockets, ice-axe loops, and bungee daisy chains. Custom hardware MOQ is 500 units, with one-time tooling around $1,200. After that, hardware is added at unit cost.

Do you ship bluesign® / PFAS-free as a standard?

Our Eco-line is 100% bluesign® and PFAS-free. Standard line uses GRS-recycled fabrics at MOQ 200. Custom certifications (PFC-free DWR, Climate Neutral) available on bulk orders above 5,000 units.

How do you test packs before shipping?

Every outdoor SKU passes 14 lab tests (50kg drop, 72h monsoon spray, –30 → +45°C cycling, 800h UV) plus a 6-week field test by our 40-person guide team across 4 continents before it enters the catalog. Test reports available on request.

What's the bulk lead time for outdoor packs?

Sample in 7 days. Bulk production in 14 days for stock fabric, 21 days for custom fabric or Pantone-matched color. DDP shipping 5–9 days to most countries. Plan 24 days for stock spec, 32 for fully custom.
